Supper Club Special: Meet the Producer with Charlie and Ivy’s (03 May 2025)
Meet the Producer Seasonal Supper Club
Brand new for 2025! We’ve teamed up with Charlie and Ivy’s to bring you a series of “Meet the Producer” Seasonal Supper Club Specials. Four dates will be released, each featuring a different producer.
The Cook’s Place has teamed up with our good friends, local artisan food producer, Charlie & Ivy’s, to bring you a Supper Club with a difference!
Across the seasons, we will come together to host an exclusive evening with a local guest producer to enjoy a mouth-watering menu, using their local and award-winning products as the stars of the show.
Pulling up a stool at the Chef’s Table, you will enjoy a wonderful and informal evening in the company of the people behind the food and drink, be entertained by their stories, and leave inspired. All whilst enjoying a delicious, seasonal three-course menu packed with local produce, cooked by Gilly.
Based on a farm just outside of Thixendale, Charlie & Ivy’s are sharing these seasonal supper clubs in celebration of 10 years in their family business. It is their ethos to create produce and inspiration for everyone to enjoy simple, delicious food. Their passion, like ours, is to bring friends and family together, enjoying not only the food but sharing stories too.
This supper club will support Charlie & Ivy’s charity, HOPING York, a pop-up street kitchen who pitch up in York each week to serve freshly made, home cooked meals to the homeless and those in food poverty.
Launched in 2014 from their farm in the heart of Yorkshire, Charlie & Ivy’s are a family business that continues to produce all their Bread Dippers, Dressings, Marinades and Mayonnaise in-house, using their own Great Taste Award Two-Star cold pressed Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil.
The Producer
Alongside the Charlie & Ivy’s team, this supper club welcomes Justin Staal, founder of Staal Smokehouse, a small artisan smokehouse located just outside the beautiful market town of Beverley, in the heart of the East Riding of Yorkshire. A family run affair, where Justin and Georgina Staal take great pride and care in producing mouth-watering smoked products.
At the heart of the business is the belief that they should buy the very best raw products possible; use traditional curing and smoking methods using modern technology and that the smoke should complement the product rather than mask it. All of which culminates in a wonderful award-winning smoked fish and poultry products that are found in farm shops and delis, small eateries and Michelin Star restaurants.
Justin will be joining us on the night to share an insight into his products and business. You’ll also be able to sample some of his wares on the menu the evening too!
The food
Similar to our traditional Supper Clubs, you’ll be served a delightfully seasonal meal at our Chef’s table! You’ll get the chance to meet the founders and hear their stories as you enjoy your freshly prepared meal.
You’ll then enjoy a cocktail, in partnership with Gemma from the After Dark Secret Society too.
Join us for a wonderful evening!
